This morning my mom said,
“You’ve got to pay me for my cooking.
Three meals a day, for the last nine years,

No more freebie treats,

I can’t pay, but I can start by being grateful,

This morning my dad said,
“You got to pay me for my driving.

This morning my teacher, said,
“I’m not interested in teaching. Nobody listens, it’s just a waste of time.
I’m not puttin’ on a show. You’ve got to pay me for what I know;
Learn it or lose it, that’s the way it goes.”

This morning the earth said,

All those crops for all these years.

You waste me as you please
